With its 105 year history and its position as a leading national university, Hanoi Medical University (HMU) considers international cooperation an essential aspect of the universities activities. Such activities play an important role in helping HMU develop in line with the global trend for integration.

Therefore, the International Co-operation Department (ICD) which had been an international relations unit of administration department was established in November, 2004, under a decision of the rector board. The department now has 7 staff, each of whom is in charge of one part of collaboration such as: Francophone collaboration, Asian and Australian collaboration, American and European collaboration, etc

Until now we have been collaborating bilaterally with more than 30 countries, such as France, Japan, the Netherlands, the United States, Sweden, Australia and South Korea, etc. Among others we exchange students, teachers and researchers with our international co-operation partners. In order to establish new collaboration contacts we receive and send delegations from and to other countries.

We also have a network of international co-operation collaborators who come from every department and faculty in the university. They are involved in every international cooperation activity which relates to their departments or faculties. They also plays an active role in our student exchange programs like being a supervisor for our foreign students or coordinating relating international cooperation activities.
