Youth and students are the major force in the propaganda for tobacco harmful effects and HIV/AIDS prevention. The Central Youth Union has organized a training course on Resolution 12/2000/NQ-CP by the Government to key officers from provinces and cities. The Center for Population, Health and Environment Education has set up action programs for Youth Unions at grass-root levels, performed Resolution No.12, formulated regulations on preventing negative effects of tobacco among the youth unions network; formed families and young clubs’ commitments on no-tobacco ; Launched the no-smoke life movement at the weddings, funerals and parties...

 

On the basis of that spirit, the Club for anti-tobacco and HIV/AIDS under Hanoi Medical University has been set up with subject to Decision No. 42/QD-DTN dated November 8, 2005. Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi Medical University, in coordination with Student Union, has well defined their important play in the propaganda, mobilization and education of the youth, students and young cadres to actively participate in tobacco effects and HIV/AIDS prevention campaign in order to fundamentally change these objects’ awareness about tobacco side effects, protect a healthy way of living and learning, training environment for Hanoi Medical University’s students. The followings are main activities of the Club:

-Coordinating with other clubs like foreign languages, volunteers, broadcasting etc., performing a great deal of propaganda subjects in regards of tobacco, HIV/AIDS effects on the occasions of special events like HIV/AIDS World Day; National Week for Tobacco Effects prevention; Vietnam Doctors’ Day; International Children Day…

-Displaying banners, slogans at open places within the campus. Adhering NO SMOKE signs at the gate, lecture hall, dormitory and working rooms…

-Organizing group discussions, training courses for club participants, teams, volunteer groups, Union cadres.

-Propagandizing through open political activities of the University and delivering to attendants of meetings, cultural festivals, sports with leaflets and propaganda posters.

-Populating purposes, contents and plans of action programs via broadcasting media, written and wall-newspapers, internal news.

-Signing into mutual agreements to emulate specific exchanging programs, organizing competitions for excellent propagandists among units, branches of the University, selecting typical progressive examples to attend national competitions with other universities and units in the count
