The Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health (IPMPH) – Hanoi Medical University is pleased to invite qualified and interested candidates to apply for a place in the full-time International Master of Public Health program for the 2018/2019 academic year, commencing October 2018. The program is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for candidates. Funding for scholarships is from the One Health Workforce Project, part of the USAID-funded Emerging Pandemic Threats Program. It is anticipated that the intake to the Masters program will include about 20 students and that faculty from Tufts University, the University of Minnesota and Sydney School of Public Health will support the teaching staff from the University.
Program Overview
The full-time International Master of Public Health program at Hanoi Medical University is designed for those who aspire to acquire the required skills to practice public health in a global environment, especially those who wish to develop their career in One Health. As a graduate of our International Master of Public Health program you will be equipped with the knowledge base and analytical skills to raise your professional profile, to apply different perspectives to address public health issues and to deepen your participation in ongoing conversations about key issues in global health. With a one-year investment, not only will you acquire a Master of Public Health degree from Hanoi Medical University, but you will also develop knowledege and skills in a rich multicultural environment.
The faculty members who will teach the program have been trained in the US, Australia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and other countries, and all have a deep knowledge and understanding of public health and preventive medicine research and practice in the global arena. In the program, students will take seven (07) compulsory courses and three (03) elective courses, and will complete a final thesis to fulfill graduation requirements. In the final thesis, students will be able to pursue their own public health interests, and to investigate a question or problem of their choice.
Training duration: 12 months (Oct 2018 to Oct 2019)
Tuition fee: 3,500 USD (around 77.000.000 VND, applied currency at the time of paying)
Eligibility and Admission Criteria
Applicants from any country are eligible for the program and should have the following prerequisites:

A Bachelor’s Degree.

At least 1 year of work experience in one of the following fields - medicine, public health, veterinary medicine, environmental sciences or related disciplines. This prerequisite may be waived by the course organisers if applicants achieved a high ranking in one of these related batchelor degrees.

Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL IBT scores of 70 or more; TOEFL PBT scores of 500 or more, or IELTS scores of 5.5 or more. (Native English speakers do not need this proficiency certificate).

A cover letter outlining the reasons they want to enroll in the course

An up-to-date curriculum vitae: Include general information, training process, work experiences, publications, other skills related to public health…

Notarized copies of academic degrees

A letter from the current or most recent employer to certify work experience (at least one year in the areas stated above) or a request to waive this prerequisite.

Health certificate (To make sure that you can study in our university)

Official proof of English proficiency as stated above

2 current photos (3x4 cm) (have been taken within 3 months)

Applications will be reviewed by the admissions council and only those shortlisted will be invited for interviews.
Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available and are open for competition to all international and Vietnamese applicants applying for the International Master of Public Health program. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and need of the applicants.
Course enrollment fee: 20 USD (Applicants may pay cash or make a wire transfer at the time of submitting their application. International applicants will be given details for transfer after submitting the applications). This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee admission.
