  • Hanoi Medical University, which was established in 1902 under a name: Indochina Medico-Pharmaceutical University, was the first university of Indochina. After the establishment of Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Hanoi Pharmacy Medical University had its first opening ceremony of a new school year in an independent country on November 15th, 1945. In 1947, in the mountains and forests of Viet Bac, a small number of staff with patriotism, the teachers and students of Hanoi Medico-Pharmaceutical University built a Medical University of resistance and taught in Vietnamese.
  • Youth and students are the major force in the propaganda for tobacco harmful effects and HIV/AIDS prevention. The Central Youth Union has organized a training course on Resolution 12/2000/NQ-CP by the Government to key officers from provinces and cities. The Center for Population, Health and Environment Education has set up action programs for Youth Unions at grass-root levels, performed Resolution No.12, formulated regulations on preventing negative effects of tobacco among the youth unions network; formed families and young clubs’ commitments on no-tobacco ; Launched the no-smoke life movement at the weddings, funerals and parties...
  • At the biginning of 90s, in harmony with the "Doi moi" period, the HMU has moved along a dual orientation: development of high technology medicine, as in cardiology, organ transplantation, etc., and in the other hand, extensive investigation on public health and plurilateral cooperation with other nations and regions on the world: France, USA, the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, etc...
